🎓 Each year the West Pride festival is held in Gothenburg. An art and culture festival that creates safe spaces for LGBTQI people and emphasizes norm-critisism and LGBTQI person’s lives. In 2019 West Pride had 89 000 visits, over 270 program items, 15 000 participants in West Pride Parade, and 30 000 onlookers of the same – numbers we were hoping to exceed in 2020. West Pride is a non-profit organization that annually makes a Pride festival in Gothenburg. West Pride Gothenburg usually takes place in June, and is the city's largest genuflection to the local LGBTQ community. The second largest pride in Sweden after Stockholm Pride, this lively gay event offers a series of parties, cultural celebrations, and one incredible gay pride parade to boot.

West Pride. The University of Gothenburg is a proud partner to West Pride. The university participates by raising rainbow flags outside university buildings and also by organizing seminars and other activities during the festival. West Pride 2020 was scheduled to take place June 3-7, but was canceled due to the spreading of Covid-19. Despite the canceled festival, the University of Gothenburg chose to continue its partnership with the festival. The Gothenburg Pride Festival is called West Pride.
